Faith Fits in a Briefcase
FRANCE — Ri struggled with a desire to put more energy into ministry rather than work. While at a French university as an international student, he had heard about Christ and trusted in Him for salvation. Now a new Christian and newly graduated engineer, Ri poured himself into ministry at his local church.
“Your ministry through the church is important,” Crossworld worker Kevin told Ri as they met one day. “But don’t neglect the ministry you have at work.”
“What do you mean?”
“Each time you travel to your home country, you come back with story after story of sharing your new faith with old friends and business associates. You can do that here too! You can impact your coworkers by being a capable and ethical employee, and you can talk about Jesus as you network with other businessmen here in France.”
“I hadn’t considered that before,” Ri said.
Several months later, Kevin asked Ri how his work was going.
“I’ve been thinking about the things you shared with me,” Ri said. “I wanted to have an effective full-time ministry as a pastor or missionary. Now I realize God gave me what I wanted, but as a businessman. I can go places and talk to people that no missionary ever could.”
Kevin smiled. Before his eyes, this disciple had become a disciple-maker.
