As I sat at my coworker Malee’s desk unpacking the story of the fall of man and its implications, I could barely contain my enthusiasm. Like many times before, the Holy Spirit was helping me to articulate in Thai — a language not my own — exactly what He wanted her to understand. My mouth was moving, but He was doing all the work.

Behind her eyes, I recognized a certain look: the look of a person who is starting to get it as the truth of God’s Word cuts right to their heart and their spirit begins to recognize the voice of the Creator. It is the look when seeds start taking root in good soil.

At one point, she paused pensively and said with a smile, "You are really good at explaining these things clearly. You know, you could be one of those people that travels around and teaches others about Jesus." I couldn’t help but laugh, thanking her for her compliment.

While being one of “those people" is usually meant in a negative way, our hope is that when people say it about us, our team, or our church, they think of Jesus. Ultimately, we are all ambassadors of His kingdom and called to be representatives of His character. It is a high calling, but one that He works out in us by His Spirit and to the glory of His name.

So, we wear this distinguished mark with joy, knowing that by it, many will come to recognize Him, and some will be saved. Indeed, we are those people. The ones that follow Jesus with all their hearts. May it be known throughout Thailand!
