STEP Seminary (Haiti)
For many churches in Haiti, the position of "pastor” is simply a position of leadership and authority, where the relational aspect is often lacking.
The Evangelical Theological Seminary of Port-au-Prince (STEP) wants to change that. That’s why the school trains servant leaders to make disciples by living and loving like Jesus. And it’s happening! Lives are being changed and communities are being transformed through STEP’s graduates … graduates like Pastor Ezechiel.
Pastor Ezechiel became the pastor of a church in rural Haiti before attending STEP Seminary. He came to STEP to be equipped for the ministry so that he could preach and teach. But soon after he started the program, he discovered that his own life was being transformed, and he was learning a different philosophy of ministry as he was being discipled himself.
Pastor Ezechiel graduated in May 2025 and is already applying the things he learned about discipleship in his church. One of his church members told him, “Pastor, since you started going to the Seminary, I have observed some changes in you. You are more of a guide for us, a true shepherd, and we like that. Thank you!”
Dieuna, Pastor Ezechiel’s wife, has also observed the changes in her husband and she is now contemplating training in the STEP Women’s course.
With more men like Pastor Ezechiel making disciples who make disciples, in a generation or two, Haiti could be a different place.
But widespread poverty means that many potential disciple-makers can’t afford to complete or even begin their studies at STEP.
