Shalom University
Since 1961, Shalom University of Bunia has been training Christian leaders for the Democratic Republic of Congo, despite war, poverty, ethnic conflict, Ebola and COVID pandemics.
Through quality higher education, the school is raising up pastors, doctors, counselors and engineers to take the hope of the gospel to churches, hospitals, and society at large.
You can unleash the potential of Christian leaders in a needy place by helping Shalom University teach the Bible and equip students to serve their communities through development, agriculture, and medicine. Recognized as one of the 10 best universities in the D.R. Congo, Shalom has 1370 students in 43 academic programs including studies for Bible teachers, Counselors, Medical Doctors, and Agricultural Engineers. Giving to a special project like this one makes a huge impact!

One of the latest projects has been planting a field of 2,000 pineapple plants and 3,300 banana trees. Not only does the fruit provide another source of income and food to eat, but it also gives an opportunity for the locals to learn how to farm. One man learned the method from Shalom University and went out and planted another 6,000 pineapple plants of his own. Sharing skills and resources like this enables the locals to provide for their families and benefit their community.
With the help of your gifts, the student housing project is moving ahead. “Advancing the construction of two more classrooms for the new School of Medicine is an urgent priority,” said Ted, a Crossworld worker and professor at Shalom University. “We also need more housing for faculty and a minibus to take students on practical ministry.”
Your gift will make a difference for the students and Bunia people, as Shalom University invests in a generation of godly leaders for the Congo.
