How (Not) to Meet Your Neighbors
BALKANS — Plop. Plop-plop. Water began dripping through the balcony onto small sidewalk tables below.
“Hey!” the shop owner yelled from below. “Where is that water coming from?” Thelma’s head quickly peered over the balcony side. “Oh dear! I was watering my flowers and I didn’t realize….” With concern on her face she replied, “I’ll be right down!”
Seeming gruff, the owner listened to Thelma’s introduction. “My husband and I live upstairs. We teach English down the street.” As she hurried to dry the tables, he turned his back and shuffled away through the shop door.
Soon he returned with two teenage girls in tow. “These are my daughters. I want them to learn good English.” A smile stretched across his face. “Can you help?”
Whoops! The way you respond in a stressful situation can bring God’s love to life.
