What does it take to become a missionary?
You don’t need a special call or degree to do missionary work, and there's no age limit. But you do need courage to step out in faith.
The missionary journey sometimes contains obstacles — like visas, language learning, finances, doubts, loneliness, fear, and more. That’s why we’re here to help. We’ve been sending Christian missionaries abroad for more than 90 years. We know how to help you overcome the obstacles on your path to missionary work.

What Is marketplace ministry?
Modern-day missionaries look different than you might think. Some plant churches and teach Bible studies, of course. But many of them have secular jobs in offices, schools, and hospitals. They live and work abroad, engaging their career as their primary place of ministry. They use their professional skills to serve communities and build relationships.
Marketplace ministry has the same goals as missionary work — to show God’s love, spread the gospel, make disciples, and establish churches. The context and day-to-day schedule may look different, but the vision stays the same. Marketplace ministry allows all of God’s people, who maybe don’t think of themselves as missionaries, to engage in the Great Commission.
