Sharing (Breakfast) Is Caring
CANADA — Recently we helped host a prayer breakfast for students at a college near our house. It was exam week, so only about eight students came, but that gave us opportunity for good conversations with each of them. We offered to pray for anything they wished, and they all asked for prayer for their exams.
Soon some school employees walked by and peeked in the room. We offered them breakfast as well, which they gladly accepted. Then we asked the same thing of them: “How can we pray for you?”
One woman in the group began to weep.
“My father is having major surgery this morning in my home country,” she shared.
We prayed for her right then.
Before she left we exchanged phone numbers. “I’m so relieved to know someone cares,” she said.
She texted us later to say her father’s surgery went well. Then she texted again: “Is it alright if I come to your church, even if I’m not a Christian?”
