EAST ASIA — Lockdown restrictions made going to church temporarily impossible for Crossworld workers Randy and Stacy and their family.
Instead of worshipping at church, they encouraged their kids to worship God in other ways.
One Sunday, Randy said to his 11-year-old daughter, Sadie, “You can do anything you want today, as long as the focus is on thinking about God.”
That gave Sadie an idea.
Sadie knew her family was leaving the country soon to spend a year in the U.S., and she wouldn’t have much more time with her local friends. So she asked if she could invite her friend Lucy over for the afternoon.
“Dad, do we have a movie about Jesus in Lucy’s language so she can understand it?” Sadie asked. “I want to watch a movie with her about God.”
Randy agreed, Lucy came, and the two girls settled in for their movie. Every few minutes, Sadie paused the video to explain what was happening and the meaning behind each story.
When the movie ended, the girls went to play in Sadie’s bedroom. For the next 30 minutes, Lucy asked questions about the movie and about God, and Sadie explained the gospel to her friend.
That day Lucy got to hear about Jesus and what he has done for her. God will continue to nurture the seed that Sadie planted.
Here’s how you can pray for this ministry.
- Pray for God’s work in Lucy’s heart.
- Thank God for Crossworld families on mission all over the world. Pray for the kids as well as their parents to grow as disciples and disciple-makers.
