Overview

Crossworld, a non-profit mission agency based in Kansas City, Mo., is seeking a full-time Director of Development to lead a team generating organizational and project-based funding for high-impact ministries around the world.

Purpose
Crossworld’s dream is to send and support disciple-makers from all professions who will bring God’s love to life in the world’s least-reached marketplaces. Every department and employee is aligned with this purpose. The ideal candidate for the Director of Development will be enthused about Crossworld’s dream and be able to articulate it with clarity and enthusiasm.

Responsibilities
The Director of Development organizes a strategic development plan to fund Crossworld’s dream and executes Crossworld’s fundraising efforts. Responsibilities include engaging with foundations and major donors, growing a legacy giving strategy, coordinating development-related publications and print materials, measuring and reporting on funding goals, and planning key development events.

Skills
This position requires both technical industry skills as well as relational “EQ” skills. The ideal candidate will understand current trends in charitable giving, fundraising technology, and capital and major gift campaign strategies. He or she must be able to manage resources, set and prioritize objectives, and lead a team. Beyond the technical expertise, the Director of Development must also be able to communicate persuasively with internal and external stakeholders, sharing Crossworld’s dream in ways that motivate others to act. He or she must exhibit a high awareness of self and others, courageous creativity, motivation to work independently, and personal networking passion that yields meaningful relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or a related field; Master’s degree preferred but not required
  • 10+ years’ experience in fundraising or sales-related work with proven successes
  • Availability for travel 20-30% of work time
