Function
The Brand Copywriter’s ministry advances Crossworld's disciple-making vision by amplifying stories of Kingdom impact. This role curates stories of impact, interviews staff and field partners, writes and edits copy across print and digital platforms, and optimizes content for SEO/AEO to engage recruitment, church, and donor audiences at every stage of the marketing funnel. This role is the voice of the organization.
Areas of Responsibility
Content Curation and Interviewing
- Regularly conduct journalistic-style interviews of field staff, office staff, ambassadors, donors, and church partners to curate authentic impact stories and testimonials for internal and external distribution.
- Regularly read and watch digital updates from field staff for potential impact stories for internal and external distribution.
- Coordinate interview scheduling with Videography when a story has both written and video components, to avoid interviewing the same subject twice for the same story.
- Follow Crossworld's field security and creative access guidelines when curating or publishing stories involving field staff in sensitive or restricted-access locations, including required review/redaction steps before external distribution.
- Collaborate with the Director of Communications and various departments to maintain a standing story-sourcing cadence, ensuring content reflects current priorities and is obtained in a timely manner.
Copywrite Content Strategy & Brand Voice Oversight
- Collaborate with the Director to guide Crossworld's brand voice and strategy across all communications, fostering cohesive messaging that exemplifies Christ, the authority of Scripture, and Crossworld's disciple-making vision.
- Own and maintain a written brand voice style guide as the reference standard for tone, terminology, and messaging across all Crossworld content.
- Collaborate with the Director to maintain the editorial calendar and align platform, audience, and written content strategies with campaign, awareness, and fundraising objectives.
Internal Communications & External Marketing Copywriting
- Serve as lead writer/editor for internal communications and external marketing efforts.
- Curate written material for:
- Internal use: email newsletters, brochures, brand PowerPoints, and promotional materials.
- External use: campaigns, social media, site stories/blogs, video scripting, lead generators, and other creative storytelling projects.
- Write copy for print and design materials (brochures, one-pagers, event material) in coordination with Graphic Design, following an agreed brief-and-review cycle so copy and layout timelines stay aligned.
- Write video scripts and interview talking points in coordination with Videography and the Director; Videography retains final say on visual pacing and shot-driven script adjustments, while this role retains final say on messaging and voice.
- Draft written copy for social media and digital channels; scheduling and platform management may sit with Digital Marketing.
- Edit and proofread outbound communications.
Metrics & SEO/AEO
- Research keywords and write content that applies SEO/AEO best practices to increase visibility of website and blog content.
- Partner with Digital Marketing to track site analytics, email data, and content performance on stories, blogs, and lead generators, using results to inform future content decisions.
Crisis Communications
- Provide direction on messaging during emergencies as part of the Crisis Management Team.
- Final approval on public-facing crisis messaging rests with the Director of Communications; this role drafts and executes under that direction.
Other
- Read newsletters from Crossworld workers to curate content for marketing channels.
- Assist with training events, scheduling, filing, and other tasks as requested.
- Attend prayer times, staff meetings, and team meetings. Lead staff prayer time occasionally.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills
- An understanding of the Crossworld brand, brand standards, core messages, audiences, and calls to action.
- A thorough understanding of Scripture and ability to articulate the gospel and the Crossworld vision with clarity and enthusiasm.
- Excellent written communication skills with high emotional intelligence.
- A working knowledge of various styles such as Christian Writer’s Manual of Style, AP, and Chicago Manual of Style.
- A working knowledge of programs such Teams, Outlook, Airtable or similar software.
- Able to apply an overarching editorial strategy across various audiences and platforms.
- Able to stay motivated, organized, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Desire to work as part of a team and willing to perform tasks outside this job description to accomplish shared goals.
- Good relational skills to collaborate with coworkers, international staff, and contractors.
- Good verbal communication.
Evaluation
An annual evaluation will be conducted by the Director of Marketing and Communications.

Location and Hours
This position is based at Crossworld’s Kansas City campus, with work occurring in office and home environments. This job requires the employee to work primarily on campus Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends. The employee must be able to function efficiently working from an office or from home.

We believe the Bible teaches that marriage is to be a lifelong union between one man and one woman, and that the sexual relationship is to be enjoyed uniquely within the context of marriage (Gen. 1:26-27; Ex. 20:14; 1 Cor. 6:18 - 7:4; Gen. 18:20; Lev. 20:13; Rom. 1:26-27). Because of our understanding of the biblical teaching on this matter, Crossworld does not employ or retain for employment individuals engaged in sexual conduct outside of the bounds of a heterosexual marriage relationship.
Physical Requirements
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk, hear, use their hands and fingers to operate office technology, is often required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. This employee should be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds periodically. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly wage will be determined annually by the Vice President of Mission Advancement and the Director of Marketing and Communications. The employee is guaranteed medical coverage, life insurance, and retirement benefits of all full-time employees. Annual vacation is 10 days, 12 holidays, and 10 sick days are also allotted January 1 each year. Paid time off will be pro-rated days for 2026 based on the first full month of full-time employment with Crossworld.
