This Treasure Isn’t for Sale
SENEGAL — “Your belly is getting bigger,” Abdou said as Crossworld worker Kwashie entered his shop for a visit. “You look good. You must be getting rich.”
Kwashie laughed. “If I am looking good, it is because of God’s grace.”
“If you follow God, you won’t get rich,” Abdou said. “Money is everything.”
“Let me tell you a story,” Kwashie said. “Once a man came to Jesus and asked how to get to heaven. ‘Sell all you have and give to the poor, then come and follow Me,’ Jesus replied.
“And did he?” Abdou asked.
“No,” Kwashie said. “The man went away sad, because he was very rich.”
Abdou’s eyes widened. “Surely men have money in their hearts and God in their pockets. If even the rich can’t make it to God, then how can we?”
“God has made a way,” Kwashie began. “He has given us an intermediary….”
Just then another customer came into the shop and Abdou went to help.
As he left, Kwashie prayed that one day soon they could continue their conversation and he could tell his friend about Jesus, the one way to God.
