“Taxi!”
UKRAINE — “Let’s talk about God.” Crossworld worker Micah could hardly believe what he heard. As he sat in a taxi waiting for a shopping center to open, his new taxi-driver friend brought up this topic.
A week earlier, Micah had arrived in Kiev by train and caught a taxi to the airport. As they rode along, Micah shared his connection to the Protestant church. The taxi driver then asked the question every believer hopes to hear: “What’s the difference between the Protestant church and other religions?”
For the rest of the ride, Micah described to the driver how faith in Christ’s atoning death on the cross is the only way of salvation. Then he got out at the airport.
A little more than a week later, Micah again returned to Kiev by train. Micah prayed he would meet the same driver again, but doubted the answer. That’s almost too much to ask! he thought.
But, as Micah got off the train, he saw his new friend!
After Micah settled into the taxi, the driver said, “This proves that there is a God.” Only minutes before, he had almost taken another passenger, but it hadn’t worked out. So, his empty taxi waited when Micah arrived.
Micah and the driver made several stops around the city, all the while talking about Christ, the driver’s wife and her beliefs in astrology, and the driver’s own family.
As the driver again dropped Micah off at the airport, he said, “Give me a call when you return to Kiev again!”

Your part in this story...
Micah asks you to pray for these requests.
- Pray for my taxi driver friend to recognize what he heard as God’s truth.
- Pray for next steps. I’m trying to connect him to workers who live nearby so that the conversation can continue.
- Pray that he will find new life in Christ.
