BRAZIL — Crossworld worker Kirsten stood in the middle of one of the exclusive shoe stores in the shopping center and wanted to pinch herself. Is this a dream? she wondered.

But it was no dream — eight female shop assistants clustered around her, listening intently to the Bible story of Nehemiah. The store was strangely empty of customers, so all the workers, even the ones behind the counter, could listen to the story. Kirsten took to heart the Bible’s guidance, “Use every opportunity to give a testimony,” and told the story with advice of how to apply it in everyday life.

Kirsten had never been in such a luxury store before; she had only come to thank the shop. They had donated shoeboxes to build a city wall for Kirsten’s children’s group, and now they wanted to hear the same story that the children had. She came to hand out pictures of the children and a prayer booklet, and instead stayed to share the gospel with eight women!

Now Kirsten has a budding friendship with the shop assistants. They exchange waves when she passes by on the street, and they are eager to give her more shoeboxes for her next group event.
