Not Just a Bright Idea
Sometimes, we tend to treat the Great Commission as if it were a last-minute idea from the mind of a revolutionary leader.
Sure, it might work, we think.
The thing is, the Great Commission wasn’t just a whim; it wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment thought from Jesus. Rather, it is the most ingenious plan ever devised by a King to establish His Kingdom in the heart of every person, bring justice to the oppressed, and build His church in every nation so that “His glory would cover the earth as the waters” (Habakkuk 2:14).
However, without aggressive implementation, even the most brilliant plan is useless! It’s time for disciple-makers to fulfill their purpose: to carry out Jesus’ plan to reach the nations (Matthew 28:19-20). It’s time to send disciple-makers from all professions to the nations to address their spiritual and physical needs.
What would happen if, instead of seeing the Great Commission as just a bright idea, we treated it like the intentional plan that it is and made it our number one priority?
