“Guy Time” in the Garage
GUYANA — “Hi, Mr. Scott!” Joe shouted and waved. The young teenager had showed up early for their weekly guy time and was pushing (instead of riding) his bike. A few pieces of the bike seemed to be hanging haphazardly. “Do you think you could teach me how to fix my bike?”
“I can definitely take a look,” Scott said. “Wheel it in the garage over here.” Scott started to look the bike over as Joe told him what had happened.
Soon other boys began arriving and joined Joe and Scott in the garage.
Most of the boys who crowd around Scott don’t have a father at home to teach them basic skills or what it means to be a man. And most of them don’t know Christ as their Savior.
The “guy time” they spend in the garage each week isn’t just about learning how to use this tool, fix that squeak, or build that project. It’s also time for Scott to invest in their lives, teaching them about manliness from a biblical perspective.
