Biker Down!

EUROPE — Before Crossworld worker Keith and his motorcycle group hit the road for their monthly ride, they visited one of the bikers, Pablo, who was ill at home. Keith had been looking for a chance to talk about spiritual things, and this seemed like the time — he would lead them in prayer for Pablo.

Pablo’s house presented the perfect situation: everyone gathered in one place, a difficult circumstance to pray about, and even the sun shining through the clouds at the perfect angle. But each time Keith started to speak, someone interrupted him.

When the group left Pablo’s house — without praying — Keith took his frustration to God. You know I’ve been looking for a reason to pray publicly with these men, so why didn't it work out? He had just read in the Bible about the courage of men like Daniel and Joseph. Keith, too, wanted to take a stand, but now he convinced himself he’d blown his opportunity.

Out on the road, the group of motorcycles trailed a large bus. With brakes squealing, the bus jolted to a stop. Keith feared for his friends nearest the bus.

As Keith rounded the corner of the bus, he saw Daniel, one of his disciples, get up from the ground and brush himself off. Daniel had passed the bus, lost control of his bike on the broken asphalt, and crashed. That’s why the bus stopped. Daniel’s motorcycle lay in a heap of parts strewn on the forest floor, but he was okay!

The men waited for the tow truck, standing in a casual circle. Then it dawned on Keith — this was the moment God had prepared for him to speak to the bikers.

“Perhaps you believe that Daniel had bad luck today, but I believe we witnessed the hand of God,” Keith said. “I am going to pray a prayer of gratitude that Daniel is still with us.”

Keith thanked the Lord for saving Daniel’s life, then he prayed for Pablo’s health and asked God to show His glory by healing him.

As the men remounted their motorcycles and drove on, Keith realized that God had prepared this entire day, from start to finish. He only needed to wait on God’s timing.

Your part in this story...

Keith asks you to pray for these requests.

  • Three believers have caught the vision for making disciples among the motorcyclists. Pray for safety as they ride, and for courage to share their faith.

  • Pray for those interested in the love of Jesus to have courage to ask questions.

  • Pray for funds to continue this motorcycle ministry.
