Aiming Straight
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC — “Pass it to me, I’m open!” José yelled to his teammate. He dribbled the ball and took his best aim at the basket. It bounced off the rim and the other team caught the rebound.
José’s shoulders sank as he muttered under his breath. After a few more minutes of play, the guys took a break on the concrete bleachers. Bob, a Crossworld worker, walked over to José.
“You seemed pretty hard on yourself when you missed that shot,” Bob said. “Whenever I’m disappointed in my mistakes, I remember Christ’s sacrifice for me.” Bob pressed his finger to his wrist and nodded toward José to do the same.
“This is what I do to remember the forgiveness Christ offers. It helps me focus on the present instead of on past mistakes.” Bob looked up to see several other guys quietly watching him also, listening to the truth he shared with José.
Part of making disciples is sharing God's truth wherever life happens. For Bob, it was on a basketball court.
