Dedication and good sportsmanship need no translation. The potential for gospel impact? As high as your energy level.
Big Picture
Finish the race! Claim the prize! Do not run aimlessly! Some of the apostle Paul’s favorite Scripture illustrations were sports metaphors. Sports and the gospel go hand-in-hand, and weaving God’s truth into your recreational conversations can be seamless. The way you show the same dedication to God as you do to your workout goals will speak volumes to your teammates watching you.
Your profession. Your mission.
Build friendships with your neighbors in unstructured downtime as you share a jog or a bike ride in the Canary Islands. Or make a profession out of it by showing people the ropes as a tour guide in North Africa or opening a gym in Asia. You can also use sports as ministry outreach by developing a youth camp in the Balkans or a soccer league in Haiti. In every interaction, help the people around you see that Jesus is relevant where you work and where you play.
